Are You Ready to Take Your Writing to the Next Level?
Tim Albaugh taught writing in the graduate film and television program at UCLA for 25 years. His students have sold hundreds of feature projects and written hundreds of hours of TV. Currently, Tim’s past students write for all the major studios and television shows such as BLACKISH, BROAD CITY, INSECURE, STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, WYNONA EARP, THE MAGICIANS, 13 REASONS WHY, BIGGER, HAWAII FIVE-O, NANCY DREW, PRIVATE EYES and others too numerous to mention.
Currently, Tim is a producer with ROYAL VIKING ENTERTAINMENT, producers of the 2019 Sony Screen Gems release BLACK AND BLUE (starring Naomi Harris and Tyrese) and the upcoming film WORTH starring Michael Keaton and Stanley Tucci. WORTH made its world premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. It was acquired by Barack and Michelle Obama’s HIGHER GROUND PRODUCTIONS and is streaming on Netflix.
In Tim’s 10-week film and TV writing workshop you can write a new feature, rewrite an old one, or write that original TV pilot that has been percolating in your head. Each week you’ll email out your assignment to your classmates, read each other’s work, then participate in a group Zoom call to critique, discuss, and brainstorm. Not only will you get weekly notes from Tim, but also from your talented classmates. By the end of the ten weeks you’ll have a completed draft. At that time, Tim will do a full read of your completed script with page notes and a one hour private call to discuss the notes and brainstorm on next steps for you to take creatively and professionally.
Tim’s next round of classes begins the week of May 7, starting Tuesday May 7 at 11am PST or Wednesday May 8 at 6pm PST. The cost of the workshop is $1750. We offer payment plans for all of our 10 week long classes.
Each class is capped at 8 writers to ensure the best quality and attention to each student’s script.
Please contact [email protected] for further information. To ensure writers are placed in the correct workshop we do not allow online sign ups.
Tim’s workshop energizes you. You come away knowing all he wants is to help you make the story in your head better than you first imagined. He genuinely cares, which makes him one of the best mentors out there.
Godwin Jabangwe, Imagine Impact Creator (Tunga at Netflix)
Tim helps you build your story from the ground up – character work, outlines – so you can solve your story problems early on. Once my script was ready, Tim helped me attach a producer and get it set up at a studio.
Noushin Jahanian, Screenwriter, The Start Up (eOne)
Tim is a legend in the screenwriting space because of his amazing work with students. Any student would be lucky to be under his tutelage, and would become a much better writer because of it.
